Pico System III – Desktop Box by Erica Synths is the most affordable and portable modular system in the Pico series, designed to make the sound and workflow of classic West Coast synths more accessible. This compact synth features two VCOs with FM and waveshaping, a modulation oscillator, random voltages, a sequencer, looping envelopes, two LPGs, a voltage-controllable BBD delay, and 1970s-style preset card patch memory. It delivers a powerful and petite modular synth experience with a unique touch of grunge to the classic workflow.

The Pico System III offers a modular signal flow similar to the classic Buchla Music Easel, yet allows for deeper experimentation with novel patching. Enjoy the traditional “complex oscillator” pairing with two resonant lowpass gates that deliver a classic plonky, rubbery response. The BBD circuit offers voltage-controllable delay up to 400ms, ideal for flanging, chorus, and echo effects.

Modulation sources include two voltage-controllable looping envelope generators, perfect for generative patches and evolving textures. The Modulator provides sine, pulse, random pulse, S&H, and noise outputs, while the Sequencer offers 2-, 3-, or 4-stage operation. The left-hand voice card slot allows for “saving” signal routings, enabling quick patch changes.
